Word Wars, (for those of you that were on TWIG, you should know already) are writing contests where you set a time limit (eg 12:30 PST- 12:45 PST) and try and write as many words as you can. It cannot be random. It's sort of like writing a one-shot as fast as you can, to try and out-write the other person. It really only works if the two (or more!) people are on at the same time unless you post the story and word count inside a spoiler, and the other person(s) don't cheat and peek. If you're going to do that though, you have to watch the time very carefully, and the other person has to trust you to follow the limit. Spelling isn't a priority, and neither is grammar, but please try your best.
Another way to play is to set a word-limit (such as 1k) then time yourself to see how long it takes you to get there. (Works best with Microsoft Word- built in word-counter in the bottom toolbar. Works great.) That way you don't all have to be on at the same time.
